Which cities does Leaveby cover?

New York City (MTA buses and subway) today. San Francisco, Boston, and more are on the way.

Do I need an account?

No. Leaveby works fully anonymously — there’s no sign-in, and your location never leaves your device. See the privacy policy.

The app says no departures — what’s wrong?

Usually you’re outside NYC (where there’s no live feed yet), or the MTA’s real-time feed is briefly quiet. You can still search destinations and set a starting point manually.

Why does it ask for my location?

To find the stops nearest you and estimate your walking time so “leave now” is accurate. It’s used only while you’re in the app, and stays on your device.

Is Leaveby affiliated with the MTA?

No. Leaveby uses the MTA’s public GTFS / GTFS-Realtime feeds but is an independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by the MTA.
